Core Values

Truth: The Kanakuk Institute provides students with eight months of learning to discern and accurately handle Biblical truth from the Word of God. By the end of the year, students will be able to navigate the Bible from cover to cover. Foundational to every aspect of this program is the Word of God. In a world of conflicting viewpoints, students are equipped to discern and accurately handle the truth themselves, using a working knowledge of Scripture.

“All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”
-2 Timothy 3:16-17

Community: At the Kanakuk Institute, students are fellowshipping, worshipping, studying, growing, learning, laughing, sharpening, crying, encouraging, challenging, mentoring, praying, and living life all together. This is the body of Christ in action! On-campus living and a commitment to unity creates an intentional atmosphere of community. A commitment to corporate worship and prayer fosters spiritual growth and development.

“They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” -Acts 2:42

Discipleship: The Kanakuk Institute stands firm on our desire to follow the great commission: ‘Go therefore and make disciples’. Students are mentored, taught principles of discipleship, and have the opportunity to disciple others in the community. The Kanakuk Institute equips students to reproduce like-minded Christ followers through the understanding of truth, sharpening within community, development of character, and establishment of one’s purpose to mature the whole person spiritually, educationally, emotionally and socially.

“The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” -2 Timothy 2:2

Character: The Kanakuk Institute believes true integrity is shown when no one else is around. Students shape their character through their study of God’s Word. Understanding the truth of God and living in a community of believers helps to develop a core belief system. Once established, character is continuously shaped, resulting in moral integrity, discipline, and excellence in the aspects of daily life. The objective is to develop honest, courageous, humble and devoted followers of Christ from the inside out.

“Likewise urge the young men to be sensible; in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with the purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.” -Titus 2:6-8

Purpose: The Kanakuk Institute aims to help students identify their vision for life, develop a purpose behind everything they do, and understand how their gifts can be used to further the Kingdom of God. With the strengthening of moral character, the program channels the passion and potential of young men and women to be intentional in relationships and make an impact for the cause of Christ. By identifying a concrete vision, students will leave with Biblical skills for a lifetime of ministry.

“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.” -Colossians 3:23
