As an extension of the Kanakuk Institute’s desire for community to have an outward focus, several times a year will plan various outreach, ministry events where our students go out into different parts of the community and serve others.

In the past, students have served a Valentine’s Day meal to less fortunate members of our community through the Loaves and Fishes Program and helped Kanakuk Kamps prepare for summers full of campers. We’ve jumped in with local churches to do home repairs for elderly couples and have traveled New Orleans & Joplin, MO, to help clean up after natural disasters. We pitch in to help host families, kamp directors, and community friends. Sometimes the Institute staff plan service events, but often, students see the needs on their own and set a plan in action! We find these opportunities to serve rewarding and a lot of fun!
