Internships

While attending the Kanakuk Institute, students are placed into a local church or para-church ministry where they will spend time each week interning. The Kanakuk Institute internship program requires students to spend 175 hours over a year (roughly eight hours a week) with their internship. Time will be spent attending planning meetings with ministry directors, leading or co-leading a small group, helping run weekly group meetings such as youth group or club, and hanging out with and ministering to kids in their environments. The hope is, as an intern, students will receive first-hand experience in ministry. Internships prove to be an opportunity for meaningful discipleship relationship year after year.

Students interested in a specialized internship in coaching, medicine, business, or an alternative ministry should contact Keith or Karen Chancey.

Some of our major ministry and internship sponsors include:

Kanakuk Kamps: Kanakuk Kamps’ motto is “Exciting Adventure in Christian Athletics.” Kanakuk Kamps is not like a typical summer camp. Kamp incorporates the best of sports camps and the best of Christian camps together with 2,500 hand-picked, dedicated, kid-loving Christian athletic staff to offer children a summer camping experience like no other.

Kids Across America: The mission of Kids Across America is to build Christian leaders by encouraging, equipping and empowering urban youth and their mentors through sports camping. The heart of Kids Across America is to see kids know Christ, live for Him and to make Him known; whatever their situation.

K-Life: K-Life is a youth ministry focused on mentoring, coaching and discipling today’s teenagers. Working on a community-wide scale, K-Life networks kids to build positive, godly relationships that can withstand the negative peer pressure so prevalent in today’s youth culture. Through the development and training of college-aged leadership teams, K-Life employs a strategy that results in junior and senior high kids who are actively involved in small groups, where relationships can be fostered and truth can be taught.
