News from the Arkansas trail…

November 30th, 2010 — 10:55am

Below is an excerpt from keithchancey.com. Enjoy!

Our travel began with a trip to Heber Springs, AR. We did an awesome family movie show! It was great to be with the Thomas families, and great to hear Savannah share how excited she is about kamp. What an incredible joy she has for the Lord! One day she’ll be on my staff, I guarantee. It was great to see Hannah, Alie, Lily, and Sterling as well. It’s obvious that these kids are on fire to get their friends to kamp. We left there and headed to Conway, where it sure was fun to be on the campus of UCA. We did a show there for Central Arkansas, Central Baptist College & Hendrix College students to interview. Jasmine & Jana, KAA reps, and Luke did a great job getting about 20 students to attend. We left UCA and went to Ouachita, where we had an unblieveable showing—over 60 students came!! Great job, Callie Chancey, Brandon Briscoe & Lester!! We did a LOT of interviews and saw a lot of great kids. It was nice to be on that campus, even if we were up really late and up really early. The travel to our next destination, Arkansas Tech, windy and long, but worth it. Good job Jessica, Kristina, Robert, and Michael! We left Ark Tech & went to Rogers, AR, where I must say, was perhaps my favorite place to be. Before I explain why, let me first insert that I was traveling with Kara Leidecker and Aaron “Grease” Anderson. It sure was fun traveling with these guys! I learned that Grease loves to eat all the time, and he’s super fit, but super thick. So, in Rogers, Clay Burger, a chiropractor, made me laugh hysterically as he tried to manipulate Grease’s back. He looked like he was drilling for oil. The harder he pushed, the less Grease flinched; I have never seen such an effort. We had a great showing there and then headed to John Brown University. Thank you Caleb Freeman and Mitchell for doing a great job. The trail was fun and full of laughs. I learned that there are a lot of great Starbucks along the way, which is much needed, and I thoroughly enjoying seeing so many kampers and future Kanakukers.

David v. Goliath, Goliath wins…

August 31st, 2010 — 6:30pm

Below is an excerpt from Keith Chancey’s blog…http://chanceykeith.wordpress.com

Friday’s nights match-up between the Pirates & Carthage was, unfortunately for us, a David v. Goliath moment in which Goliath won.

The first half was a well-fought game, but by the second half it was clear that we were outmanned by some really good Carthage athletes. To make a long story short, the ending score was Carthage 60-Branson 28. Cameron played a nice game, but got hit pretty hard, and he thinks he cracked his sternum. My response? “You’re OK. Get back out there,” but of course, his mama is scared to death. There’s nothing to be done about it for now except focus our attention on this Friday’s game v. Cassville.

We spent the rest of the weekend in Kansas City visiting Karen’s daddy. When we got there, he’d just finished 18 holes of golf, which he does at least 3 times a week. Did I mention he’s 89? He’s my hero! We had a great visit together, and while in KC, we got to meet with a family about supporting the Institute as well. It’s so encouraging to meet folks who believe in our cause–to change the world for the cause of Christ.

Right now I’m studying through 2 Kings, the life of Elisha. It’s fascinating and inspiring to see the miracles he was able to accomplish through his faith in Christ. May we all live with that kind of faith!!

That’s all for now in the Chancey world. More to come soon!

Sure do love y’all,

Keith
