Director of Training and Curriculum Development
Hope and Help International
David Lawson is the Director of Training and Curriculum Development at Hope and Help International, an organization that seeks to meet the needs of Christians in South Asia. With Hope and Help, he is responsible to continue to develop training and write Bible study curriculum to help the nationals in South Asia reach their own people groups. David has been a police officer in the military and with the Atlanta P.D., a pastor, and a youth pastor. Before working for Hope and Help, David worked with Precept Ministries International. Both David and his wife, BJ, are mentors, authors, and conference speakers who specialize in teaching people how to study the Bible for themselves.
At the Institute, David teaches the skills of Inductive Bible Study. Inductive Bible study is an approach to God’s Word focusing on three basic steps that move from a general overview to specifics. Through these three steps, we apply inductive reasoning, which is defined as the attempt to use information about a specific situation to draw a conclusion. The steps are observation (what does it say?), interpretation (what does it mean?), and application (what does it mean for my life?). Inductive Bible study is a valuable tool in understanding and applying the principles of God’s Word.
